A welcoming space for whānau, hapū, iwi, and community kaupapa.

Wai Ora Marae offers facilities for a range of relevant kaupapa and gatherings, including the wharenui, wharekai, kitchen facilities, ablutions, and surrounding grounds.

Bookings and enquiries are welcome from whānau, hapū, iwi members, community groups, and organisations. To begin the process, please submit an enquiry form with your kaupapa details, preferred dates, estimated numbers, and any key requirements. A marae representative will then be in touch to confirm availability, discuss your needs, and provide further information.

Laundry is the responsibility of the hirer returning it to the marae within 1 week of hireage, unless prior arrangements are made. Laundry should be left at Kaitaia Laundromat, Shop 4, The Plaza, 206 Commerce Street, Kaitaia. The cost will be invoiced to the hirer and deducted from the bond. Please use your kaupapa name as a reference, and let the trustee know if laundry needs to be collected.

73 is the maximum number in Wharenui/Wharemoe due to Health, Safety & Fire Regulations. Wharenui comfortably sleeps 50 maximum, overflow can sleep in the adjacent hallway area.

Tangihanga charges

There is no set Marae fee for the first three nights, an appropriate koha is expected. A fee of $500 is required to be paid online before the arrival of the tupapaku to cover the first meal and laundry expenses. Additional costs are the responsibility of the whānau.
